Islay Polished Pewter Sgian Dubh With Stone Top
$96.95
This unique product has developed from the short utility knife much favored by Highlanders as a way round the Period of Proscription when weapons were forbidden to them
SGIAN is the general term for blade or knife, but it is the word DUBH meaning black or darkness which most evokes the background to this unique piece of history. Highlanders kept their sgian dubhs in hidden pockets under the armpit, but over the years tradition dictated that it should be worn openly and visible above the hose top.
The knives gradually became more embellished and day and dress blades have become accepted. Scottish Regiments over the centuries have done most to ensure the tradition carried forward to today.
Draw on that history and tradition proudly.
