Celtic Warrior Pendant; Small Circle with 18k Gold Embellishment
"Warriors like Chu Chulaunn, Fionn Mac Cumhail and Queen Maeve are inspirational heroes from our past who influence our songs and stories even today. Carrying shields richly decorated with Celtic symbol and design they represent courage and fearlessness.
The Celtic Warrior Collection has been inspired by one of Ireland’s foremost treasures, the Ardagh Chalice. In 1868 it was found in Ardagh, County Limerick by two men digging potatoes. This 8th century piece is Ireland’s most prized artefact and is held in the National Museum of Ireland. It is widely recognized as one of, if not THE, most important pieces of Celtic art found. A girdle of ten filigree panels of animal design, interlacing and shield decoration surrounds the neck of the chalice. The chalice is made of silver and decorated with 354 pieces of gold, brass, lead pewter, copper, gilt bronze and enamel beading. There are great examples of fine filigree gold work on this piece. It shows the extraordinary skill, craftsmanship and time that was devoted to making the chalice. It is from these ornate designs that Boru has created their much loved and unique Celtic Warrior Collections and is what forms the basis of the intricate designs featured on each piece. The gold filigree band on the Ardagh Chalice, featuring shield decorations, forms the basis of the intricate designs featured on each piece of our Celtic Warrior Collection. "
